Japanese Gov. Pledges to Promote Investment in Zambia

The Zambian Embassy in Tokyo, Japan joined the rest of the country in joyously commemorating Zambia’s 52nd Independence Anniversary. In attendance were Japanese cooperating partners, friends of Zambia and Zambians living in Japan as well as officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

Japanese Ambassador for TICAD, H.E. Mr. Junzo Fujita says the Japanese Government will continue promoting Japanese investment in Zambia. Mr. Fujita said Zambia and Japan are important partners who have enjoyed cooperation in fields such as business, economic cooperation, culture and people-to-people exchange programs. Mr. Fujita also congratulated His Excellency, Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu on his reelection as President of the Republic of Zambia. He was speaking when he graced the commemoration of Zambia’s 52nd Independence Anniversary hosted by Zambia’s Ambassador to Japan, Her Excellency Mrs. Ndiyoi Muliwana Mutiti at her official residence in Tokyo on 24th October 2016.

Speaking earlier at the event, Her Excellency Mrs. Ndiyoi Mutiti said since gaining independence in 1964, Zambia has continued to observe freedoms as enshrined in the country’s national constitution and in conformity with international standards. She added that as a result, Zambia has continued to be a shining example of good governance, whose people participate fully in governance as demonstrated in the recent Presidential and General Elections held in August 2016 when Zambians re-elected His Excellency Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, in a very peaceful and democratic manner.

Ambassador Mutiti expressed gratitude to the people and Government of Japan for the excellent relations that the two countries have enjoyed for decades, with Japan’s support towards Zambia’s economic development through various projects across all sectors. She further appealed for continued cooperation especially in trade and investment, saying Zambia was now focused on implementing the TICAD VI action plan.
